"Probably Peter Brock's most famous shot of the Spirit of America. Taken one rare evening as the Spirit of America crew was preparing for a record attempt, the sky far above the mysterious Blackrock Desert exploded with color just as the sun was setting. The astonishing thing about the moment (for it only lasted a minute or so) was the eerie silence when the generator, powering the work lamps, suddenly shut off. "The car, the flat desert playa stretching away to the horizon and that incredible sky; we could have been on another planet!"
