Gayle shares: "It took me three years to nail this shot. This is what they call the Ojos Rollers at the Baja 1000 race. In an effort to see the spectacular SCORE desert machines leap over the Ojos hillside, spectators crowd across the road, entirely, solidly across the road. As a truck flies into view the 'sea' of people parts. After three years of working the shot I got the right combination of ladders and lenses to capture the mania. Unfortunately mu success meant the end to the scene. SCORE organizers, who had been trying unsuccessfully for years to get Mexican officials to understand they needed to control the crowds in this area, used my images, which appeared in magazines worldwide, to show them the problem. It worked and the area is now roped off. The Baja is still wild, but not quite as wild as it once was."
